In partnership with Blessing of Hope and Convoy of Hope, The Journey will be distributing over 20K lbs of food. During this event Journeyers who serve will help with greeting, traffic control, holding signs, and loading of cars with food. This is a very family friendly event, and children may participate if supervised by their parent/caregiver.
"There are an estimated 3,500 individuals experiencing homelessness each year in Delaware. Forty percent of all homeless in Delaware are members of a family experiencing homelessness. Resources exist for homeless individuals, less so for families. Family Promise is the only shelter in Delaware that has always accepted any family, no matter their size, make-up or composition. They are the gap in services for families experiencing homelessness. Their impact is apparent as we serve more families than any other provider in the state, as they served 44.9% of all homeless families experiencing homelessness last year." Examples of ways we will be serving Family Promise: *Cooking and hosting dinner *Spending the evening with families, talking, tutoring kids or playing games *Coordinating children’s crafts & activities *Donating necessary supplies for the hosting week ***THIS SERVE OPPORTUNITY IS RESERVED FOR A J GROUP TO SERVE TOGETHER MINIMUM OF 4 PEOPLE, PLEASE SIGN ALL J GROUP PARTICIPANTS TO RESERVE THIS SPOT***
Kick off the day by sharing warmth in a very tangible way! Our Coffee Brew Team will meet @ The Journey to prepare coffee for the Christina Park Harvest of Care outreach later that day! Other needs include helping us gather and organize cups, creamers, sugar, and other coffee supplies- so all is ready for our serve event at Christina Park.
Come & be a part of preparing “Harvest of Care” kits for our neighbors in need! Join us at The Journey as we come together to assemble Harvest of Care Kits—Journey Hope Totes filled with essential items and YOUR handwritten encouragement notes. These kits will later be distributed at Christina Park, blessing those individuals in need with both everyday essentials & encouragement. Every tote packed is a tangible way to share love and hope in our city. Come be part of the preparation that makes the outreach possible! Location- NWK-1-JK-Overflow Room
